Edging ahead: Sail like a celebrity with ultimate cruising

The world’s most anticipated cruise ship has finally taken to the ocean as the stunning, game-changing, Celebrity Edge sailed graciously into the new home of modern luxury – T25 Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Some of the cruise team at Oasis Travel have already enjoyed the privilege of attending previews and reveals about the amazing new ship and some of our (super lucky!) consultants jetted out to Florida for familiarisation tours. We asked what impressed them most as they got up close and personal with the awesome celebrity Edge …

Most frequently mentioned was the ship’s unique ‘magic carpet’ which glides from deck to deck in spectacular style. This stunning tennis court-sized deck juts out over the edge of the ship and can be raised and lowered to host everything from passenger embarkations and disembarkations at sea-level to chic cocktail parties13 storeys above sea level.

The Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda – it has an entire living space that transforms into an open-air veranda with the merest touch of a button.

Inspired – and inspiring – dining at sea. French, Greek, Italian, Fine Dining, Bistro, Steakhouse, casual … whatever your taste, whatever your mood, there’s a carefully considered and mouth-watering menu to suit.

The three-storey Grand Plaza, with its huge sparkling chandelier as central feature, is the place to see and be seen. Home to speciality restaurants, Martini Bar, Café al Bacio, and the Grand Plaza Café, it is elegant and amazing in equal measure.

The Rooftop Garden – a playful take on childhood memories; an enchantingly alternative garden escape, complete with fantasy metal trees. It’s the perfect place to catch a movie or catch up on convo, stargaze or dance the night away under the stars.

Eden Restaurant, attracting mega attention as a place where dining is taken to new and exciting places. It features a lively, open air kitchen and menus that deliver sensory and experiential dishes, all served by performance artists called Edenists. The culinary journey isn’t only expressed in taste sensations, for guests will move around the two storey venue in a carefully choreographed path of discovery. Intrigued? Us too!

There’s been a revolution in relaxation on board ship too, with a stunning spa which promises to take shipboard relaxation and pampering to a whole new level thanks to a collection of the most advanced treatment tables at sea. Focusing on health, WellMassage 4D will be the first in the fleet to offer Salt Stone Therapy, Oncology Massage and a comprehensive menu of Pain Management services including acupuncture, posture analysis, meditation and functional stretch.

Theatre to take your breath away, performed in the most dramatic of performance spaces. The Theatre is designed to blur the line between audience and performers, using technology to maximum effect – with four stage areas, three moving backdrops, rotating spiral staircases, 16 synchronised projectors, and a rotating platform that raises almost seven feet above the stage, prepare to be awestruck … and that’s before the cast rock up with mesmerising productions worthy of the West End.

Celebrity shopping. Always a highlight with Celebrity, the Edge adds a special dash of magic to the retail experience. Expect the coolest brands and the biggest names and surroundings to make you feel you’re strolling along Rodeo Drive! Nice touch: specialist Port Shopping Guides are on hand to give insider tips on top local purchases, what to buy and where to find it as you head out on shore excursions.
