From the picturesque city of Vancouver to the awe-inspiring Glacier Bay, this trip was a dream come true for any travel enthusiast.

An Enchanting Start:

Nicky’s journey got off to a perfect start, as she was invited to relax and enjoy the amenities of the Maple Leaf Lounge at Heathrow Airport. This exclusive area offers a fully tended bar, spa-like shower facilities, a serviced bistro, and various quiet zones to ease into your travel experience. This was followed by a smooth, comfortable flight with Air Canada directly into Vancouver.

Experiencing Luxury at Fairmont Waterfront:

Upon arrival in Vancouver, the group breezed through customs hassle-free and hopped into a taxi to reach their first accommodation – the Fairmont Waterfront. This opulent hotel offers true West Coast luxury with an unrivalled, personalised service all being underpinned by a sustainable philosophy. Located on Vancouver’s spectacular harbour and just steps from the Vancouver Convention Centre, Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal, historic Gastown and the iconic Seawall, it’s the ideal launchpad for your Vancouver getaway. Setting Sail on the Holland America Koningsdam:

Boarding the Holland America Koningsdam, Nicky was thrilled to find herself in a Veranda Stateroom, allowing her to witness the mesmerising scenery perfectly, from the comfort of her own room. The food on the ship surpassed expectations, especially the delightful experiences at Tamarind, the Asian speciality restaurant. From live performances at the Rolling Stone Rock Room to warm, covered pool areas, the cruise offered a wealth of entertainment options. Thanks to the HAL package, which included gratuities, a shore excursion credit, beverages, WiFi, and speciality dining, the guests were thoroughly pampered throughout the journey.

Exploring Alaska’s Hidden Gems:

Juneau: The first port led passengers to the breathtaking Mendenhall Glacier, surrounded by lush forests and a picturesque waterfall. They also had ample time to explore Juneau, indulging in shopping or enjoying panoramic views from a cable car ride.

Skagway: An adventurous day awaited as the group ventured on a thrilling ziplining experience, overcoming suspended bridges and balance beams. Following this adrenaline-inducing experience, was group for a scenic ride on the White Pass Summit Train, surrounded by captivating views and intriguing stories of the region’s history.

Glacier Bay: Words fall short to describe the splendour of Glacier Bay. Nicky described the hours spent on deck as, “Dream-like,” as you could gaze in awe at the majestic glaciers and serene surroundings. This was a highlight of the trip that left an everlasting impression.

Ketchikan: While the bear spotting adventure didn’t yield any sightings, the group could immerse themselves in the beauty of Totem Poles and listen to fascinating stories. Ketchikan’s bustling atmosphere and a lively Lumberjack Show added to the excitement of the day.
